Home Remedies for Joint Pain
Most adults experience joint pain at some point in their lives. Be it the lower back, neck, shoulders, ankles, hips or knees, they often rely on painkillers to deal with the pain. But, popping painkillers isn’t a great solution as these can have side-effects.

Epsom Salt & Lavender Essential Oil Soak
This remedy is especially effective for ankle and knee pain.
- 1 Tablespoon Epsom Salt
- Warm Water
- Few Drops of Lavender Essential Oil
Take some warm water in a tub or a bucket; make sure that the water is not too hot. Add 1 tablespoon of Epsom salt and a few drops of lavender essential oil to the water. Now, soak your feet for at 10 – 15 minutes. Epsom salt will help reduce inflammation and muscle spasms, and lavender oil will help reduce stress and tension.
Milk and Turmeric
One of the most effective and common home remedies for joint pain is Milk and Turmeric.
- 1 Cup Warm Milk
- ½ Teaspoon Turmeric Powder
- 1 Teaspoon Honey (Optional)
To 1 cup of warm milk add ½ teaspoon turmeric powder and mix well. If you like it sweet, add a teaspoon of honey. Drink it at night before going to bed.
Cold & Hot Compress
Cold & Hot compresses help in relieving joint pain. Hot compress helps increase blood flow and relax sore muscle and joints. Cold compress helps numb the affected area and reduce inflammation.
Wet a towel in either hot or cold water and place it on the affected area for 2 – 3 minutes. Repeat the process for 15 – 20 minutes a few times every day to get rid of pain.
